cultural layers

While walking, trying to find my way through the darkness of November the concept of "cultural layer" came to my mind. A Swedish multi journalist published a review of 591 Photography recently in quite positive terms, but he also remarked that 591 was hard to access and that it suffered from having a "cultural layer" or perhaps "cover", "sheet" or "film"(!).

I am thinking hard, trying to understand the concept of "a cultural layer" - it definitely interests me. Photography is a wonderful art form, because it keeps raising new questions. I will certainly get back to this topic further on.
