Vivian Maier

 Vivian Maier 1926 - 2009

She has been called the "best photographer you've never heard of..."  John Maloof found her negatives at an auction house in Chicago. He began doing research about her, wanting to find her to ask questions about her photographs but she died before he could arrange a meeting.  Vivian moved to the United States from France as a child. She worked as a nanny and from 1950 to 1990 she took thousands of photographs on the streets of Chicago.

Maloof is working on a book and a documentary film about her life. You can read more about it on his blog, Vivian Maier - Her Discovered Work.     -R
