This excellent photo by Arthur Rothstein gives me a feeling of what the Dust Bowl was about - a period of severe dust storms causing major ecological and agricultural damage to American and Canadian prairie lands from 1930 to 1936. An ecological and human disaster caused by misuse of land and years of sustained drought.

Today people of Northern Europe are grounded due to the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull on Wednesday. Have a look at this live map and prognosis from the UK Met office. And watch this photo showing the face of the volcano. Incredible.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. - Mr Urbano
