STILL Exhibition - Roelof Bakker

'STILL' is an exploration of abandoned interior spaces at Hornsey Town Hall, North London, in photographs and film.

I spent a number of days at this local Modernist building, which is due for redevelopment, and set out to record traces of human presence and activity from distant and more recent pasts. Chanced upon still lives are featured alongside poignant vistas of faded grandeur. Photographs of defunct signage, clocks frozen in time, obsolete technology, municipal archives and wear and tear caused by human interaction add weight to this narrative. -Roelof Bakker

The exhibition takes place in presently disused offices within Hornsey Town Hall itself.

'STILL' includes a combination of 50 x 50 cm photographic enlargements from medium format negative film as well as digital photographs, newspaper cuttings and a twelve minute film.

The opening of the exhibition coincides with the 75th anniversary of the building on 4 November 2010.
