Tokyo stories coming to Stockholm

Tadahiko Hayashi, Dancer on a rooftop, Yichigeki Theatre, Yurakucho, 1947

There are many great exhibitions to look forward to this spring in Stockholm. Tokyo stories in Kulturhuset is one of them. Three leading Japanese photographers depict their impressions of life in the streets in one of the world's biggest cities.

Hiroshi Hamaya, was born in Tokyo and his pictures from the 1930s, present a mysterious and exotic city very different from Tokyo of today.

Tadahiko Hayashi depicts the devastation of Tokyo after World War II, and the people's determination to create a better future from the ruins.

Shigeichi Nagano photographs bear witness to the profound changes that Tokyo has undergone over the past 50 years in the context of modernization.

The exhibition opens on March 6 and will be on until May 2.
