Is international photojournalism seriously ill ?

Russian photographer Vladimir Vyatkin shares his views about the result of this year's World Press Photo Contest. Have a look at his article, where you will also find a slideshow with the winning photos. After watching it, I have to agree with Mr Vyatkin; it looks like international photojournalism is not feeling well.

Speaking of awards, on 8 March the winner of the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography will be announced in Gothenburg, Sweden. This is something I am looking forward to. The Award was introduced in 1980 and has seen winners like Henri Cartier-Bresson (1982), Sebastião Salgado (1989), Richard Avedon (1991), Robert Frank (1996), Malick Sidibé (2003), Nan Goldin (2007, Graciela Iturbide (2008), Robert Adams (2009) and Sophie Calle (2010) - to mention some.
