Macrocosm Portrait Series - Tamás Varga

The human body is made up of visually well-conceivable units, and can be described by a particular structural setup.  These are the structures that define the various physiological functions. Cells, tissues, organs are all vulnerable – just like collodion –, yet they carry the traces of our lives, history.

We are our own little worlds. Upon death, the world would not change, only end. The structures of human tissues can be preserved, keeping the impressions that tell the stories of our lives. The shots have been taken with wet plate collodion technique.

*In the Hellenistic tradition, the human body as the little world (microcosm) is the replica and mirror of the large or entire world (macrocosm).
