I am looking forward to the opening of "Fashion!" a major exhibition with over 200 photographs by 50 photographers opening at Fotografiska in Stockholm 24 September. There will be photos by Man Ray, Irving Penn and Richard Avedon among other maestros from the history of photography. It will be very interesting to see their work in a context with contemporary Fashion photograhy.

Fotografiska is aiming at creating an "overview of fashion history" including "the sexual revolution and the feminist movement as a reccurring theme throughout the fashion world of the 20th century."

I have been told that the exhibition is based on Camera Work’s collection in Berlin. This gallery was founded in 1997 and is inspired by the legendary journal Camera Work published by Alfred Stieglitz between 1903-1917.

Camera Work is currently exhibiting "Nudes" - a group exhibition with photographers like: Manuel Álvarez Bravo, Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Bill Brandt, Harry Callahan, André Kertész, Annie Leibovitz, Man Ray, Robert Mapplethorpe, Sarah Moon, Helmut Newton, Edward Steichen, Josef Sudek, Edward Weston etc etc. Quite a show! But hurry up if you plan to visit Berlin. The exhibition is only on until 28 August.

Enjoy photos from Camera Work (the journal). I have included a link
containing the last issue of Camera work with pictures by Paul Strand (from an excellent site called Art of the Photogravure)
