Dear Rachel

This week I learned that my dear friend Rachel Zane passed away. 

Here's a photo of Rachel and me taken in 1991.
We have been close friends for over 30 years
and I consider her my "adopted Grandma".  

Here's Rachel just last year in Tucson, Arizona, at age 97 ...
still lucid, still loving, still wise, and still giving me advice.

After I heard the news of her death, I took an evening stroll with my camera.
Rachel and her husband Jerry encouraged my work in photography.
I noticed this brilliant light on a wet sidewalk,
that Rachel could no longer see.
