591 Exhibition: Road Trip - Phil Decker
This summer my wife and I took a road trip through the wide open spaces of Eastern Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, Utah. Plus, we crossed the border into Sonora, Mexico.
The vastness and simplicity of the landscape helped clear my mind, and nudged me to notice the beauty of basic forms along the way. This is a detour from my typical image making, where I attempt to capture complex interactions.
Along the backroads, I stopped the car often, and enjoyed making images with my cell phone camera. This was my first foray into cell phone photography. The cell phone camera complemented the casual, improvisational nature of this road trip.
Here's a sample of what caught my eye, in the order that images appeared along the road.
