Detroit: a self portrait - at Kulturhuset, Stockholm

This exhibition by Arianna Arcara and Luca Santese features hundreds of found pictures from the 1980s and ’90s, when Detroit’s economic and social decline was beginning. 

The photos, discoloured and damaged by heat, cold and humidity, look like documentations of crimes, accidents, suspects and victims.  Together, they are an archive of the city’s dark history and the evanescence of photography.
