Getting up close, and into the soul of the subject, is still often what we strive for as photographers. But the subject may not cooperate, and certainly does not exist for the purpose of being captured by the lens. Even when it is there in plain view, seemingly agreeing to being summarized, we should be skeptical of the chances of getting a true portrait. Portraits Denied is in part a reminder of this. It is also the title of my first book that was just published.
Living in Lund, Sweden and born in 1996. Sander is the youngest photographer to hold an exhibition on 591. I like his idea a lot and the way he has developed it. - Mr Urbano
