documentary

World Press Photo 2011 has been celebrated and there is an exhibition in Berlin. Read more and watch some pictures on Jan Bernhardtz blog ( in Swedish). Watching the award winning photos from let's say the last 10-15 years leaves me quite blank. My feeling is that many photographers are trying to make "artistic" pictures of horrible events like war and people suffering from poverty and disease - that they are adding a certain kind of aesthetics that at least to me is unnecessary.

To tell the truth I would trade most of the World Press Photos for the picture above showing: French prisioners of war and female political prisioners after being liberated. Berlin, 8 May 1945

Antonio Sánchez-Barriga has found war photos in different archives - he calls the collection Guerra/ Guerre/ War ( around 100 photos )
