Orville Robertson has been a street photographer for over twenty-five years. His work has been included in numerous exhibitions in the United States and is represented in many major museum, private, and corporate collections. He is the publisher and editor of Fotophile, the photography journal he founded in 1993. He is the co-curator of Committed to the Image: Contemporary Black Photographers at the Brooklyn Museum in 2001, highlighting one hundred living black photographers.

Orville Robertson lives in Queens, New York City with his wonderful wife and walking companion Patricia, whose amazing eye has helped him capture many of his best photographs.

It has been a joy to set up this online exhibition featuring Orville Robertson's great street photography. Orville tells me that the pictures were shot on his trip to Derby and London in early March 2011 over a period of 6 days. He wants to give credit to Format in Derby for inviting him to participate in Format 11 Street Photography Festival.

It takes an experienced street photographer to capture so many outstanding pictures in such a short period. I find something to ponder about or be amused of in almost every picture. I am impressed by Orville's sense of geometry - his masterful use of light and shadows. - Mr Urbano
